About the Show

From the mind of Tad Stones cam Darkwing Duck to the Disney Afternoon in the fall of 1991. The star, Darkwing Duck/Drake Mallard, was a mysterious crimefighter with no life, who wandered the dark rooftops of St. Canard and attempted to end up on the front page of the newspaper. That is, until he met Gosalyn... And Launchpad, from Ducktales. (This information comes from the premier episode, Darkly Dawns the Duck, written by Tad Stones and Jymn Magon).

The show had its roots firmly planted in Ducktales, which was pushed to the front of the Disney Afternoon line-up when Darkwing debuted at its tail end.

A second season of the epsides was released, which seemed a little more sci-fi (not a bad thing!) and focused on Darkwing's witchy (literally) girlfriend, Morgana McCawber.

Darkwing received 5 emmy award nominations including Outstanding Animated Program. (if anyone knows the others, email me!)
